In early 2005, Yellow Springs Home, Inc. acquired its first rental property with generous support from the Morgan Family Foundation. Our intentions in purchasing this particular property were to provide affordable rental units, possibly a future office space, a modest income stream for the agency, and a storage space for donated appliances, building materials, and tools. In 2008, the cottage was rehabbed using $30,000 raised by our Capital Campaign. We replaced the furnace and water heater, renovated both bedrooms to add more functional space, added a hallway between one of the bedrooms and the bathroom, and completely remodeled the bathroom. The house also got a new coat of paint both inside and out.
