Yellow Springs Home, Inc. and the United Methodist Church teamed up to host Bike and Build riders overnight in July. Bike and Build is a national non-profit organization where college students and recent graduates raise funds and bicycle cross country volunteering on affordable housing projects and donating funds to nonprofits groups.

Pictured above are Program Manager Emily Seibel, Roger Reynolds from the United Methodist Church, and Bike and Build volunteers. The riders reported that they liked Yellow Springs and all the fresh veggies they got with dinner.

Defying national trends, foreclosures remained low in Community Land Trusts (CLTs) in 2009. A recent CLT Foreclosure Survey conducted by the National CLT Network in March, 2010 continues to demonstrate the resilience of the CLT model at both the top and bottom of real estate cycles.

Yellow Springs Home, Inc. reflects this trend with a 0% foreclosure rate since our founding in 1998. Click here to read more about the CLT Foreclosure Survey.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent Public Forum and Village Council Meeting featuring national affordable housing policy expert John Emmeus Davis. Both meetings are currently airing on Cable Access Channel 5 in Yellow Springs.

Davis' new book, The Community Land Trust Reader, came out on May 17, 2010 and mentions both Yellow Springs and Arthur E. Morgan's contributions to the roots of the Community Land Trust movement. Click here for more information about the Reader.

New House!

We finished our 14th home, located in the Stancliff development in Yellow Springs. The land for the home was donated by an anonymous donor. 800 Paint Place in Springfield, OH. donated all of the environmentally friendly, No VOC paint. Bob Zearfoss was the general contractor. Thanks for his hard work and over 250 hours of volunteer work, the home was purchased by a family in Yellow Springs.
